Rwanda National ID Application
All National ID applications and payments will be made ONLY through IREMBO with bank cards.
The Rwanda National ID application process requires capturing the biometric data to ensure the successful identification of applicants. Therefore, every Rwandan citizen applying for a national ID will be required to physically provide biometric data (10 fingerprints and a photo), except for children of age below sixteen (16) years;
The process will be in the following steps:
Step 1: Open the Irembo online portal here. In services offered under Identification, select “Application for national ID.
Step 2: On the tab that appears, all diaspora applicants are required to select “Application for a National ID for Diaspora applicants without an NPR number”.
Step 3: You will then select “Apply”, fill in all required information, and upload all necessary documents mentioned.
The applicant will receive an email from the National ID Agency(NIDA) with a unique reference number which you will need to bring with you to the Rwanda High Commission to capture the biometric by appointment. Please ensure you have received this email from NIDA advising you to come to the High Commission for a biometric appointment before you book an appointment. Please check your spam or junk inbox for this email.
• If you haven’t received this email within one week of submitting your application, please contact the consular department by email at uk@rwandainuk.gov.rw or by telephone at +44 (0)2072 249832.
• The National ID will be processed in Rwanda, but the collection as always will be at the Rwanda High Commission.
